Forensic analysis by Conflict Armament Research (CAR) of over 500 components in Iranian drones and weapons used by Russia in Ukraine found that up to 82% were produced by companies in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. These components, including semiconductors and sensors, were often manufactured within only a few years of production. The findings highlight that Iran effectively circumvents international sanctions to acquire Western-made technology, which is then used to increase the capabilities of their UAVs deployed against critical infrastructure.
