想看看車底是不是V型的XD
這算是鎮暴用的車嗎?
應該不會是給某經常秘密演習的單位用的吧?

當然是V型的...XD
不是給某單位的
某單位也有自己的裝甲車
但這車借一下也不錯

The Police Tactical Unit (PTU) is taking delivery of six purpose built Mercedes Benz Unimog U5000 armoured personnel carriers (APC). Introduction of these impressive, state-of-the-art armoured vehicles is the result of a joint project undertaken by the Force's Transport Division and PTU HQ, and will see replacement of the current Saxon APC, which has served the Force and countless PTU officers.
The new armoured Unimog will take up all current functions of the Saxon, including its primary role of carrying personnel in emergencies. In doing so however, it will provide significantly enhanced response capabilities and a very high level of ballistic protection.
In terms of technical specifications, the new APC is based on the four-wheel drive, Mercedes-Benz Unimog U5000 chassis which has been fully armoured by Centigon, a world-renowned manufacturer of bespoke armoured vehicles. The Unimog, which has off-road capabilities, is powered by an environment-friendly diesel engine.
As it is the case with the current Saxon APC, the Unimog will be based at PTU HQ's Fanling base under the command of the Commandant PTU. Following a brief familiarisation and training period for operational personnel at PTU HQ, the new Unimogs will be ready for commissioning and subsequent operational development into service, whilst the older Saxon vehicles will be decommissioned, marking the end of their 21 years of solid and dependable service with the Force.

The new APC was planned quite early ago (should be around 2000-2001), but didn't materialize for several times due to troubles of the time.
When it was first planned, the South Afircan RG-12 was the preferred vehicle. However, due to economic downturn and SARS, the plan was being dropped.
After the economic recovery, the plan re-surfaced again, and this time there are several other companies providing quite competitive vehicles in a competitive price. However, due to the huge security spending for the World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference of 2005 (WTO MC6/HKMC), which involved purchasing of new SDU equipments, including:

the new APC planned was dropped for the second time.
It was quite interesting that during this period, the Guang Dong Police actively promote to lend their Armored Water Cannon with personnels through various channel, from government to newspaper (e.g. the "direction" newspaper), which was being kindly rejected by the Police Force as they though they have adequate force to look over that. The "direction" newspaper condemn the Police Force in their editorial the next day for lack of security senses and blah blah blah. The "Fruit" Daily was quite interesting also in mis-identifying an imported 6x6 APC (with water cannon) to Guang Dong Police transiting through HK as for the Police Force.
However, the Saxons were really a bit long in tooth. During the MC6, when the Saxons were prepared for their best condition, at least one was always out of action due to mechanical issues and at one time, 3 out of 7 Saxons were broken down, when they were urgently needed to counter the activists. After this the Police Force decided to make the purchase of the APC their first priority, with plans that the APC would be delivered just before the Olympic Games. Delays happend again, however, due to security spending again together with the delay in production. The new APC didn't arrive until early 2009.
This would be converted to Chinese tonight, if I have time...

裝甲車車隊換裝早在2000年時已有提出, 當時屬意的是南非的RG-12
但後來因為SARS帶來的經濟衰退而延後。
當經濟好轉後, 裝甲車車隊換裝計畫再次展開。 有多個廠商都提供了不錯的車型。 但由於世貿第六次部長級會議(MC6)帶來龐大的保安開支, 加上某部隊的換裝計畫比較優先, 裝甲車換裝計畫再一次延後。

新快速截擊車是某部隊第一次完全依照自己需求來設計訂購的車輛, 之前所購買的車輛不是過長而靈活性不佳(MAN貨車), 就是空間過小(Land Rover)。
值得一提的是在世貿第六次部長級會議舉行前, 廣東省公安曾以多種不同途徑 施壓 表達想參與是次會議的保安工作, 包括借出防暴水炮車及防暴人員, 但被香港政府拒絕, 結果招來多份左派報紙數日狂轟, 指警方不重視會議保安工作。 而"生果"日報就把一輛經香港轉運到廣東省公安的外國製6X6裝甲水炮車誤當作香港警方的新裝甲車。
但是現有的Saxon裝甲車已老態盡現了。 在部長級會議前所有Saxon裝甲車都曾進廠大修, 但在會議期間每天至少有一輛Saxon裝甲車故障, 有一天甚至有三輛故障(全隊共有七輛), 使警方在會議後下定決心把裝甲車車隊換裝列為優先計畫, 並計畫新裝甲車於奧運前服役, 但由於生產延誤, 新裝甲車要到09年一月才運扺。

WZ551是N年前某次在碼頭找到的那堆軍火之一嗎?

把WZ551經香港運回中國時
因報關問題(忘了申報戰略物品)
車車就從此長住香港了
