Ikala is similar to ASROC but instead of a rocket propelled ASW torpedo, it is an ASW torpedo carried by a single use UAV. Ship found a sub> launch the UAV> UAV go to the spot> drop its load.
By theorem, that load can be anything from nuclear bomb to cans of beer for different warfare, and that sort of flexibility is the advantage of IKALA over ASROC IF AUSTRALIAN AND THE BRITISH HAVE THE MONEY TO DEVELOPE OTHER WEAPON MODULE FOR IKALA, WHICH THEY DON'T...........

the British and Aussies actually developed lots of modular upgradable good stuff on the 1960~70s, but they have no money to continue the R&D after the base model is made....

ASROC則是DASH失敗後的應急系統，你總要有長程的反潛武器嘛
如果只剩船艦的反潛魚雷，那種安全感，會和深水炸彈或是刺蝟炮差不多
小貓說到一個重點某些武器系統概念很先進
但是可能維護很耗時費力，
加上又有當時科技的現制，要說誰先進？其實還得能不能用
