歐巴馬有難？ 蜘蛛人相救

總統當選人歐巴馬將成為蜘蛛人的新親密夥伴。瑪佛漫畫（Marvel Comics）總編輯克薩達（Joe Quesada）表示，歐巴馬小時候收集蜘蛛人漫畫，所以決定把他畫進蜘蛛人的特別版故事裡，以此回敬他的支持。
漫畫故事一開始是蜘蛛人的另個身分派克（Peter Parker）正在就職典禮拍照時，發現兩個一模一樣的歐巴馬。派克當下判斷「未來的總統需要蜘蛛人幫忙」，於是他採取行動，利用籃球找出真的歐巴馬、擊退冒牌貨。歐巴馬和蜘蛛人拳頭相碰，感謝蜘蛛人。
克薩達表示，「蜘蛛人遇上總統」的主意來自歐巴馬陣營的聲明稿：歐巴馬10件鮮為人知的事。克薩達說：「頭一件就是他收集蜘蛛人漫畫。發現未來的三軍統帥將是漫畫迷統帥，我大感驚訝。」
該期漫畫封面則是歐巴馬微笑、翹起大拇指，蜘蛛人倒掛在歐巴馬身後，小小聲地說：「如果你能出現在我的封面上，我可不可以出現在鈔票上？」
克薩達表示，多數總統都曾出現在瑪佛出版的漫畫中，但通常都是跑龍套的角色。他說：「我想前總統尼克森可能曾出現在封面，但不是以正面形象出現。」
這個特別版故事全長6頁，將刊載在於14日開始在全美販售的「Amazing Spider-Man #583」，售價3.99元。預期所有漫畫將被書迷和歐巴馬的支持者搶購一空。

膚色黝黑的歐巴馬當選總統，象徵美國絕大部分人已經擺脫二百多年的種族歧見。但成語說「百足之蟲，死而不僵」，以色列入侵巴勒斯坦人聚居的迦薩走廊，在極右派和極左派人士心目中，恐怕會引起更多對猶太族群隱藏的歧視。
久居美國的外人都瞭解，只有WASP才能高踞社會頂端。此字原意是黃蜂，但在美式英語中，它表示白人（white）、英國後裔（Anglo-Saxon）、和新教徒（Protestant）。早年問鼎大位者，必須符合這三個條件。四十七年前甘迺迪以天主教徒當選總統，才打破第三項慣例。歐巴馬突破了前兩項，只符合第三條，益顯他贏得不容易。
世界有歷史以來就有種族歧視，中國人尤然。華僑習慣用「老番」和「黑婆」稱呼當地人，渾然不覺其歧視與輕蔑的含意。美國仍有少數人稱華僑為Chinaman或Chinks，何嘗不帶侮辱口氣。本文要坦白檢討美國對猶太人根深蒂固、卻又深藏不露的偏見，探索為何以色列入侵巴勒斯坦，可能發生反作用的原因。
美國三億人口中，猶太裔人數不多，僅約五百六十萬人，其中一百四十五萬住在紐約市，包括終生不得修面、滿臉落腮鬍子的「哈西迪派（Hasidic Jews）」。但其影響力遠超過人數：金融界、律師、會計師、媒體、教育界，各行各業都占據領袖地位。最有影響力的《紐約時報》和《華盛頓郵報》的老闆都是猶太人。
猶太人天資既比其餘白人聰穎，又和華人一樣注重教育，在任何學校都名列前茅。哈佛大學有個從未形諸文字的「猶太限額（Jewish quota）」，即每年招收新生中，猶太裔不能超過四成。因為如照成績錄取，新生班有被猶太人包辦的危險。猶太人的對策是自己辦所大學，Yeshiva大學因而被稱為「猶太人的哈佛」，一樣高水準，只是學生全部是猶太裔而已。
大體而言，近四十年來美國的反猶太現象已經大為減少。過去極右派分子討厭猶太人，可以兩次競選總統的Patrick Buchanon為代表。絕大部分白人逐漸改變了過去的偏見，取而代之的是拉丁裔人和黑人，以及剃光頭的新納粹分子。
猶太人組織力強，社團數以千計，各司所事。最權威的「美國猶太人委員會」一呼百應。它早就設立對抗種族歧視的「反誹謗聯盟」，經常調查美國國內殘存的歧視猶太裔現象，發現雖已大幅改善，全國仍有百分之十七的人對猶太裔有反感，拉丁裔與黑人討厭猶太人比例，高達百分之三十五。出人意外的是全美大學生也有百分之三很不喜歡猶太人，是否因為成績總趕不上猶裔學生，就不知道了。
五星期前，本欄曾提到馬多夫（Bernard L. Madoff，此姓實應發音為梅多夫）案。他用老鼠會手法騙錢，只是台灣三十年前鴻源吸金案的翻版。如此後知後覺，在紐約卻轟動一時，因為受創者全都是猶太富商。不少住在東區上城的猶太老闆們，一夕之間變得貧無立錐之地。有幾位WASP朋友寫電子信來告訴我，可以想見他們心底有多麼高興。
雖然猶太裔在傳播界人多勢眾，兩周以來以色列揮軍進入迦薩走廊，每天電視上巴勒斯坦無辜兒童被父母抱到醫院急救的鏡頭，在廣大民眾間引起質疑：美國為何如此不顧世界輿論，拚命支持以色列呢？布希總統也罷了，怎麼平常正義凜然的歐巴馬也不敢說話了？歐的回答是他還沒有接任，任何時間美國只能有一位總統，避過媒體繼續追問。
極右派人士本來就對以色列有很深的反感，原因之一是美國每年總預算中，援外計畫最大的受益者就是以國。去年以色列獲得二十四億元美援，除以七百廿八萬總人口數，每人可分到三千美元，難怪有人說這個國家是美國豢養的。探究原因，猶太裔多年來在國會的遊說工作功不可沒。一向認為華盛頓政客們不知民間疾苦，花錢如淌水的右派人士，今年會藉金融海嘯造成國庫困窘為名，主張大刪對以色列的經援，可以預期。
極左派的美國人則同情占以國人口百分之廿五點五的巴勒斯坦人遭受的差別待遇，認為他們受以色列政府多年壓迫，從公平正義出發看問題，已經到了重新檢討美國對整個中東問題，特別是以巴爭執應採什麼立場的時候了。以軍雖在迦薩走廊所向無敵，迫於世界輿論壓力，已宣布每天下午「停火」三小時。再不見好就收，等隱藏多年的美國人對猶太裔的種族歧視爆發，恐怕會所得不償所失。

如果用中國人的道德與法律標準,整個西方國家一大堆制度就算不是貪污也是官商勾結,而且因為他們制度的制約小,想貪會更簡單.
不過以西方的制度標準,台灣是還好,大陸很多地區的地方政府根本沒有足夠資源去行政,實際上是制度逼他們非法,然後非法習慣了就變成龐大的地下制度,變成另一套非成文法(不成文法有文字記錄,非成文法根本連文字都沒有而只是慣例),這裡面行政不得已之處與個人私慾混雜在一起,整個非法與貪污體系就此不可動搖......柏楊柏老的"醬缸"一詞是小弟印象中對這整個制度現象最簡單的形容.

是不會很難啊，政府的合約看似公開競標，其實很多也是內部要先調好，只要給錢的願意給，那就好講話，至於給多少，不是公開競標的，沒有絕對的比較標準。
而且，小一點的合約還根本是不需要競標，政府直接告訴合約商，我要你做這個，我現在有錢，你去寫的合約報價書上來。
至於國會議員把一些給特定案子或者是地區的所謂豬肉桶，那更是常見了。 |

從老百姓的角度來看 美國還算入流的一點是願意一切按規矩來的話 事情多少還是辦的成 在有些國家不送紅包根本行不通
當然想做政府生意的話 不論在哪一國都得經營好關係

尤其是儀隊、樂隊、警衛、禮炮這些

美國總統歐巴馬將在1月20日宣誓就職，成為美國第44任總統。今天的歐巴馬就職系列，要為您介紹，美國傳統上總統就職的整個程序。 美國總統的宣誓就職大典，整個程序大約如下：
1.首先是晨禱儀式：當選總統出席教堂的禮拜儀式。這是自從小羅斯福總統在1933年就職的時候，開始實行。
2.列隊前往國會山莊：卸任總統陪同當選總統前往國會山莊，出席就職典禮，宣誓就職。
3.副總統宣誓就職：當選副總統在當選總統宣誓之前宣誓就職，監誓人為最高法院大法官。將副總統宣誓儀式納入就職典禮的做法，也是開始於1937年小羅斯福(Franklin Roosevelt)的第二次就職典禮。
4.總統宣誓就職：宣誓就職的儀式通常由最高法院首席大法官主持。歐巴馬將站在最高法院首席大法官面前，手按聖經，宣讀「憲法」第2條第1款規定的35字總統就職誓詞。誓詞中譯文是：「我謹莊嚴宣誓，我一定忠實履行合眾國總統職務，竭盡全力，恪守、維護和捍衛合眾國憲法。」
今年比較特別的是，歐巴馬宣誓時手按的聖經，正是150年前林肯總統宣誓就職的時候手按的聖經，之後一直再也沒有人用過。林肯是解放黑奴的總統，歐巴馬則是美國第一位當選美國總統的黑人。就職典禮委員會特別從國會圖書館借出這部聖經，讓歐巴馬用來宣誓，象徵美國族群融合，以及黑人地位大幅提升的重要意義。
5.就職演說：新任總統首次發表正式演說。
6.就職午餐會：總統、副總統及受邀來賓，出席由國會參眾兩院聯合組成的總統就職典禮委員會主辦的午餐會，通常都以新任總統和副總統家鄉的菜肴為特色。
7.慶祝總統就職遊行：午餐會結束後，總統車隊沿賓夕法尼亞大道行駛，隨行的有三軍儀仗隊、民間團體、軍樂隊和各式彩車。總統、副總統及來賓在白宮前登上觀禮臺觀看遊行。
8.慶祝總統就職舞會：當天晚上，總統就職典禮委員會舉辦眾多舞會祝賀新總統就任。
9.卸任總統：在就職典禮以及歐巴馬發表就職演說結束之後，布希就成為卸任總統，歐巴馬與布希將同時進入國會大廈，跟重要政界人物與應邀貴賓共進午餐。午餐後，布希將從國會東側出來，最後一次乘坐總統專機，「海軍陸戰隊一號」前往安德魯斯空軍基地，再以平民身份回到德州。

最新估計降到兩百多萬 比起小布希連任時的四十萬還是熱鬧多
這幾天冷的要命
星期二雖然會回升到零度左右 不過長時間站街頭想必不好受
也好 讓這幫歐迷冷到高興

今天我站在這裡，謙卑地面對眼前的重責大任，感念各位托付於我的信任，遙想先賢先烈的犧牲奉獻，我銘記於心。感謝布希總統對國家的服務，也謝謝他在交接過程中始終如一的寬厚與配合。
至今已有44位美國人發表總統就職誓詞，這些誓詞發表於繁榮與和平時期，但也有些是在烏雲密佈、暴風肆虐之際發表。美國人之所以可以在困頓時刻繼續向前，不只是因為高位者的能力或願景，也是因為人民相信前人理念、忠於建國法統。
我們是這樣走過來的，這一代的美國人也必須這樣走下去。
我們非常了解我國現在身處危機中心，對抗暴力與憎恨的戰爭尚未結束，某些人的貪婪與不負責任，導致經濟嚴重衰退，但這也是我們無法做出困難抉擇、讓國家準備好迎接新時代的後果。許多人失去家園、飯碗不保、公司關門；我們的健保費用太過昂貴、學校讓許多人失望；每天一再有證據顯示，我們使用能源的方式，使敵人壯大，讓地球受到威脅。
這些是根據數據與統計得出的危機指標，而比較無法測量、卻同樣嚴重的危機，就是國家上下信心流失，害怕美國國力必將衰退、下一代眼界變低的憂慮揮之不去。
今天我告訴各位，我們面對的是切切實實的挑戰，這些挑戰不只重大，而且將接踵而來。這些挑戰雖然無法在短時間內輕鬆解決，但美國人你們要知道，它們終將迎刃而解。
今天我們齊聚於此，因為我們選擇希望而非恐懼，選擇有決心的團結，而非衝突或歧異。
今天我們大聲宣告，那些無用的牢騷與虛偽的承諾已然告終，那些讓我們政壇窒息太久太久的交相指責與陳腐教條從此不再。
我們還是年輕的國家，但引用聖經的話語來說，擺脫幼稚行為的時刻到來了，重申我們堅忍精神的時刻到來了，選擇更好的歷史，發揚寶貴天賦，發揚代代相傳的高貴理想。上帝應許我們，人人平等，人人自由，人人都該有機會追求完完整整的幸福。
重申我國偉大的同時，我們了解到偉大絕非必然，偉大必須努力爭取。我們的旅程永遠不是抄捷徑、或是易於滿足而來；這條路從來就不是意志不堅、偏好享樂重於工作的人會選擇的旅程，也不是只求名利之樂之人會走的路；相反地，在這條漫長且充滿荊棘之路上帶領我們，一路邁向繁榮與自由的人，向來都是勇於冒險的行動派、真正成事之人，這之中有些人赫赫有名，但在工作崗位默默耕耘者更佔多數。
為了我們，他們帶著簡單的家當漂流萬里，追尋新生活。
為了我們，他們在剝削勞力的工廠裡苦幹實幹，定居西部，忍受鞭打，耕作於不毛之地。
為了我們，他們奮鬥不懈，葬身康科德（Concord）蓋茨堡（Gettsburg）、諾曼地（Normandy）、溪山（Khe Sahn）等等地方。
這些男男女女一再奮鬥犧牲，工作到雙手紅腫，為的是讓我們有機會過更好生活。他們認為美國的重要性，大於個人野心總和，也超越出身、財富或派系差異。
這是一條我們今天還在繼續的旅程，我們仍是世上最富足、最強大的國家，這場危機爆發時，我們的生產力沒少，我們的創造力依舊，我們的商品與服務，跟上星期、上個月或去年一樣受到需要；我們的能力沒有降低，但我們維護狹隘利益、抗拒令人不悅決定的時期必已過去，今天開始，我們需要重整精神、甩落塵埃，重新開始再造美國的工作。
環顧四周，許多工作尚待完成：現今的經濟狀況需要大膽且迅速的行動，我們也將有所動作，不只是創造新工作機會，也要為成長奠定新基礎；我們將造橋鋪路，設立符合商業需求、將我們連結在一起的電力網絡與數位線路；我們將使科學獲得應有的重視，運用科技奇蹟，提升健保品質、降低其費用；我們將運用太陽能、風力及土壤，提供汽車與工廠所需能源；我們也將讓學校與大專院校適應新時代轉型。這些我們都可以做，我們也將這麼做。
現在，有些人質疑我們企圖心的規模，他們認為，我們的體系無法負擔太多大型計畫，他們的記憶力不是很好，因為他們忘了國家過去的成就，忘了想像力與共同目標及必要勇氣相結合時，不受拘束的男男女女可以達成何種成就。
懷疑論者不了解，他們的立場已經站不住腳，政治爭論讓我們空轉太久，我們今天要問的，不是政府是不是太大或者太小，而是政府能否發揮作用，能否幫助家庭找到工資合理的工作、負擔得起醫療照顧、可以有尊嚴的退休。答案是肯定的道路，我們繼續前進；答案是否定的地方，計畫就將結束。 我們使用公共資金的人會擔負責任，明智地花費、革除壞習慣、盡心盡力，因為唯有如此，才能讓人民與政府間重拾重要的信賴。
橫在前方的問題，也並非市場力量是善是惡，市場創造財富、擴大自由的力量無可比擬，但這場危機提醒了我們，市場沒有監督就會如脫韁野馬，而且國家如果只重視有錢人，繁榮就無法持續下去；我們經濟的成功，取決的不只是國內生產毛額大小，還端視富裕可及之範圍，取決於我們能讓每顆積極肯做的心獲得機會的能力，這樣不是在做善事，而是因為，這是我們最有把握能達到共同利益之路。
至於我們共同的防衛，我們認為必須在安全及理想中做選擇是錯誤的。我們建國的諸位國父，面對我們幾乎無法想像的危難，擬定確保法治與人權的憲章，並由一代一代的鮮血加以擴充。這些理想依然照亮全世界，我們不會為了權宜之計而放棄這些理想。同樣的，所有其他觀看這項就職典禮的各個民族及各國政府、從大首都到我父親出生的小鄉村，我要向他們說：「凡是追求和平及有尊嚴未來的國家、男男女女及兒童，美國是你們的朋友，我們已經準備好再次領導這個世界。」
回想之前數個世代對抗法西斯主義及共產主義，倚靠的不只是飛彈及坦克，還有堅強的盟邦與不朽的信念。他們了解單靠自身的力量無法保護我們自己，我們也不能因此為所欲為。相反的，他們了解到，我們的力量因為謹慎的使用而增強；我們的安全源自於我們動機正當、身為楷模的力量、以及謙虛與自制混合起來的特質。

My fellow citizens:
I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.
Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because we the people have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebears, and true to our founding documents.
So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.
That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.
These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land — a nagging fear that America's decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.
Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America — they will be met.
On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.
On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.
We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.
In reaffirming the greatness of our nation, we understand that greatness is never a given. It must be earned. Our journey has never been one of shortcuts or settling for less. It has not been the path for the faint-hearted — for those who prefer leisure over work, or seek only the pleasures of riches and fame. Rather, it has been the risk-takers, the doers, the makers of things — some celebrated but more often men and women obscure in their labor, who have carried us up the long, rugged path towards prosperity and freedom.
For us, they packed up their few worldly possessions and traveled across oceans in search of a new life.
For us, they toiled in sweatshops and settled the West; endured the lash of the whip and plowed the hard earth.
For us, they fought and died, in places like Concord and Gettysburg; Normandy and Khe Sanh.
Time and again these men and women struggled and sacrificed and worked till their hands were raw so that we might live a better life. They saw America as bigger than the sum of our individual ambitions; greater than all the differences of birth or wealth or faction.
This is the journey we continue today. We remain the most prosperous, powerful nation on Earth. Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished. But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions — that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America.
For everywhere we look, there is work to be done. The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act — not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth. We will build the roads and bridges, the electric grids and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together. We will restore science to its rightful place, and wield technology's wonders to raise health care's quality and lower its cost. We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories. And we will transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age. All this we can do. All this we will do.
Now, there are some who question the scale of our ambitions — who suggest that our system cannot tolerate too many big plans. Their memories are short. For they have forgotten what this country has already done; what free men and women can achieve when imagination is joined to common purpose, and necessity to courage.
What the cynics fail to understand is that the ground has shifted beneath them — that the stale political arguments that have consumed us for so long no longer apply. The question we ask today is not whether our government is too big or too small, but whether it works — whether it helps families find jobs at a decent wage, care they can afford, a retirement that is dignified. Where the answer is yes, we intend to move forward. Where the answer is no, programs will end. Those of us who manage the public's dollars will be held to account — to spend wisely, reform bad habits, and do our business in the light of day — because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government.
Nor is the question before us whether the market is a force for good or ill. Its power to generate wealth and expand freedom is unmatched, but this crisis has reminded us that without a watchful eye, the market can spin out of control — and that a nation cannot prosper long when it favors only the prosperous. The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our gross domestic product, but on the reach of our prosperity; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart — not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.
As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our founding fathers ... our founding fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience's sake. And so to all the other peoples and governments who are watching today, from the grandest capitals to the small village where my father was born: know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman, and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and that we are ready to lead once more.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
We are the keepers of this legacy. Guided by these principles once more, we can meet those new threats that demand even greater effort — even greater cooperation and understanding between nations. We will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people, and forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan. With old friends and former foes, we will work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the specter of a warming planet. We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense, and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you.
For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus — and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.
To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West — know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.
To the people of poor nations, we pledge to work alongside you to make your farms flourish and let clean waters flow; to nourish starved bodies and feed hungry minds. And to those nations like ours that enjoy relative plenty, we say we can no longer afford indifference to the suffering outside our borders; nor can we consume the world's resources without regard to effect. For the world has changed, and we must change with it.
As we consider the road that unfolds before us, we remember with humble gratitude those brave Americans who, at this very hour, patrol far-off deserts and distant mountains. They have something to tell us, just as the fallen heroes who lie in Arlington whisper through the ages. We honor them not only because they are guardians of our liberty, but because they embody the spirit of service; a willingness to find meaning in something greater than themselves. And yet, at this moment — a moment that will define a generation — it is precisely this spirit that must inhabit us all.
For as much as government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies. It is the kindness to take in a stranger when the levees break, the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job which sees us through our darkest hours. It is the firefighter's courage to storm a stairway filled with smoke, but also a parent's willingness to nurture a child, that finally decides our fate.
Our challenges may be new. The instruments with which we meet them may be new. But those values upon which our success depends — hard work and honesty, courage and fair play, tolerance and curiosity, loyalty and patriotism — these things are old. These things are true. They have been the quiet force of progress throughout our history. What is demanded then is a return to these truths. What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility — a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation, and the world, duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task.
This is the price and the promise of citizenship.
This is the source of our confidence — the knowledge that God calls on us to shape an uncertain destiny.
This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed — why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent Mall, and why a man whose father less than sixty years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath.
So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of America's birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:
"Let it be told to the future world ... that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive...that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet (it)."
America, in the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.

說他窮 只是相對於他老婆的收入 比起其他市井小民如在下者 他算是富翁了
