小弟認為如果要這麼做的話，1950美國剛開始協防國民政府時就該做了，1960年代中國大陸陷入文革正虛弱時也比較適合；
1979台灣失去美國靠山之後就難了，然後西方接觸中國，1990年代初兩岸開始恢復交流後又逢中國國力崛起，
在交流活動中，對岸的紅線已經表明得很清楚，遊戲規則也定出來，所以小弟認為現在要這麼做已經越來越困難
，因為中國在整個過程已經取得主導權。但是呢，1950到1960，我們昭思暮想的是反攻大陸......XD
而2000扁剛執政時的四步一沒有對照後來各種動作，小弟認為前後是有所矛盾的。其實，如果在扁政府任內，台灣能打好
跟美、日軍事同盟關係的基礎（如果軍購沒被擋），而現在馬政府上台則是打好兩岸經貿交流的基礎，不知道台灣是不是比較有本錢玩「機遇戰」？
不過以兩岸開始交流後雙方的整體實力與態勢，小弟認為台灣終究會沒有腳踏兩條船的餘地而必須選邊站.....

當然,只是就短期而論.
小弟是庸碌之輩，眼光所及所想只有中短期，中長期實在不敢想啊！
不過，小弟認為雖然現實中台灣的選項不多（考量到台灣人願意承擔的風險），
但最終還是要回歸目標層面：到底是終極統一還是終極獨立？小弟已經強調，
如果雙方陣營目標根本不同，則彼此批評對方的策略也就毫無意義，因為連

Should be easier as we got the new SSK and F-16CD by now. But, don't worry, history of all nations will have shitty periods more than just once. As long as Taiwan is still not occupied by chi na, there is always a chance, just like how Finland and those Baltic states "re-independance" a few times in history.
Why I mention the dissolve of European colonies is that, by pure comparison of power, European can stay there forever, but the politics war back in their own country make them give up. One very good example is portugal's colonial war in Africa. They have virtually won the war with African resistance on 1970s, their victory is so complete that even CIA and KGB predicts that Protugal can keep those colonies forever. But one coupe (軍事政變) back in Lisban changed all that. To gain public support of the coupe, they declare withdrawal of all colonies within 2 years (even the African never expect that) and the African resistance, which is already hiding in mountains for 10+ years changed from total defeat to total victory in one day.
Will that happens in chi na? By the day of the coupe, Protugal actually has a 10+% GDP boom for 15 years under the dictatorship, but people just hate the government and over-thrown it. So if that can happens in Arabic world, why not in chi na?
What Taiwan needs to do, is to make this "war" unpopular among people in chi na and make them feel not worth it. And may support the right side in chi na when that chance arrived. Therefore, compare with 外交休兵, I am more concern with Taiwan's 情報收兵 to chi na. Because Taiwan need good information to either sence trouble, or to sence "the time has come".

不過，小弟認為對岸已經把「台灣回歸」昇華並落實到一個民族信仰的程度，而現實中台灣的地理位置對對岸的戰略意義也不低，所以對台灣方面的「紅線」應該是一個很難打破的堅持（神主牌的等級），這跟當年那些血緣本來就與母國不同、母國綜合實力衰退遲早要丟掉的殖民地，雙方背景差異太大。
除非，對岸未來發生某種超乎想像的情況，否則以現在對岸整體國力與民族自信上升的狀態，外在環境對台獨的操作非常不利（上一次營造有利機會是扁政府第一任期，不過軍購很不順利，拖到藍綠徹底撕破臉的第二任期才開始送審...... ）。

最近在看網路小說更俗寫的"梟臣"，講的是黨爭的事，常常看到某些橋段讓人恨得牙癢癢的。因為是對立派系，所以寧願讓幾萬人去送死而不管對國家的影響如何，總之能削弱對立派系的力量就無所不用其極。
我在台灣看到的也是這樣，誰上台誰下台，勾心鬥角扒糞汙衊造謠離間栽贓無所不用其極。看三國時看到賈詡就很得牙癢癢的，比對到現在，那種為了勝選就不擇手段的可不少。
不管怎樣，過與不及都不好。之前烽火過頭，變成麻煩製造者。現在走大和解，什麼互相承認和互不承認啥的，其實也不能退讓過頭。不卑不亢是一種藝術，就好像WHA要書面嚴正抗議被矮化但是會議該參加還是要參加。這兩年大陸官方在國際上對台灣的強力打壓稍有減少，大陸民間人士講錯話也會被官方逼著道歉(上次什麼電影展啥的)，兩岸把心力放在追求實質利益總比耍嘴皮爭名份好。利益可以餵飽肚子，名份算什麼？
當你某些產業等佔了全球最高產值比例，一個地震都可能要讓全球跳腳時，還有什麼比這些更能保障台灣的實質安全？專心發展經濟才是最重要。

Jus be careful don't be too greedy in bussiness that create the hate like taiwanese want North Korea invade South Korea to destroy their DRAM indyustry But overally, make the issue/incidents/war/argue between chi na and Taiwan be more international the more favor to Taiwan. Chi na knows that, and that's why they prefer "party to party" talks.......

1. Well, our case is already much better than the African or the Algerian already, so just don't give up hope. And to be honest, I don't think those "little king.princesses" in chi na really interested in "liberiating taiwan" as those CCTV bullshit.............
2. Don't worry, unless there are 24million from chi na suddennly migrated to Taiwan (sent by chi na to out-vote taiwanese populations), otherwise, as long as USN or JMSDF is still strong, Taiwan will be safe even if we made a wrong move.

台灣的外交還是一樣被大大的"烽火"外交給框住了
也因為這個"烽火"台灣絕對不能做國與國的外交
只要是國與國的外交都是烽火都是激進
所以只好外交休兵所有的接觸僅限於"中國台灣省"(對號入座)
我想這就是現今外交節節敗退的原因吧
說起來也好笑怎麼會有一個國家的政府所用的政策是把自己框住呢?
就如Roger011所講:

現在的外交走向,往牆角走去的,是中華民國政權,但對台灣人民與台灣社會來說,是不是走向牆角,卻難說得很.某些政治信仰與某些立場的人,把"政府,社會,人民"三位視為一體,但實際上呢?看個人立場,有些人與有些社群反而可以在政府崩潰或消失過程中獲利.只是民族主義興起後,政府都會用各種手法宣傳,讓成員以為這三位本來就是一體,是利益共生體,實際上這是政府的自私......
接下來要思考的,是從政府消失過程中獲利的人,有沒有可能操作成為這個社會中的多數人?英國統治香港末期看來有做到,只是中共接手香港後嘛...... |

我是寄期望在對岸年輕一輩的人 (80後)
我認為至少我接觸過的"比較沒有"那麼重的這種思想
所以我想也許幾十年過後比較能"面對現實"的看待這個半世紀前的"內戰產物"
今天中共不會接受在於, 他們心中有鬼, 知道自己的建國合法性很低(不然怎麼會一覺醒來解放前)
所以不會願意接受這個ROCt的現實, 但是同時也很尷尬的認知到這個現狀不太可能被打破
所以長期來看只會有兩種可能, 硬幹或是找一個大家都能妥協的辦法
年輕一輩, 如果他們生長在一個環境, 那個環境下台灣"自然而然"的不是掛五星紅旗, 便比較有可能妥協
如何讓他們"自然而然接受"??
當年我們也不能接受PRC 只會說他們是共匪
但是隨著台灣人去大陸觀光 經商 探親的多了,加上民主化後,政府一言堂消失, 自然慢慢就接受了
我今天就是期待20年後同樣的事情發生在對岸
所以會一直想要耗下去~~~XDD

不一定要高級將領,拿台灣退休金到大陸風光明媚地方生活的退休軍公教人士一大堆......然後最近某些旅遊業,交通運輸業,飲食業之類,不也是因為直航而增大了資金來源?只是目前看來,受惠的還是以資本家或退休公務人員為主,而台灣經濟成長與就業率又嚴重脫勾,所以現在獲利的還只是少數人. |

Well, if chi na can provide the guarantee of independence and green light of Taiwan participation of international organization and diplomatic right as a normal nation just like USSR to Finland, why not? But if not, then it is more worse than now as that mean Taiwan have to cut the relationship with key allies such as US and Japan……

Therefore, if chi na want taiwan to switch side (or become neutral), then they should provide Taiwan with the same offer/guarantee. Chi na want to invade and occupy Taiwan so Taiwan has too seek help from outside, it is not taiwan's fault.

The point I've tried to made is that:
Why on earth would China provide more freedom to Taiwan, knowing that Taiwan will be likely not on its own side after her independence?
By the word freedom I am talking about convenience in making alliance, arms deals, etc.
BTW, does it help the discussion in any way by classifying "who's the bad guy", other then good self-feeling? |

Taiwan has been an independance nation for more than 60years, with the will of the population ovet there choose to be so and the backing from US through the de facto military alliance. What chi na need to do is simply formally admit this reality that's all.
Taiwan already has the independence, they don't need chi na to "give" them that

Yes, it is a de-facto independency, yet I am sure you knew the frustration and limitation comes along with something de-facto rather then de-jure |

从正方向的利益来说 对于现阶段台湾来说 统一看不出有什么好处---民众眼见的似乎只有可以少服兵役 ，其他没有，还不知道生活方式会遇到什么冲击。对政客来说，从总统、国会议员到省长、省议员落差可是很大
负方向的利益来说 不统一不用担心被武力征服，土共还没那个决心和实力
贸然动作则会被土共和大米共同制止
所以拖字诀成了台湾主流民意和官意
不过 明天怎么办？ 似乎没有一个轴线 对台湾来说，，如果中国富裕、法制、自由到一定程度台湾自愿加入是一个好结局，如果中国崩溃台湾得以切割干净也是好结局（当然经济要受冲击）。最糟糕的应该是实力足够强大（比如具备具备清洗米蒂西太平洋所有实力）但人不够富裕、法制、自由吸引力不足的情况，那台湾可能“被统一”
至于外交休兵，如果休兵是指两岸停止给亚非拉小国送钱买建交的事情，那到是应该做的，这是一个典型的负和游戏。应该也可以达成一个默契。 |
